Project Title
Ideal Force: Projectile physics in a game-like VR learning environment

Overview
In this project, we seek to develop a demonstration system of virtual reality based learning with strong game elements. The work represents an extension of the Principal Investigator’s C–VISions research project at NUS which focused on collaborative virtual interactive simulations. The technology used is desktop virtual reality that uniquely supports a strong sense of co-presence between students and allows them to participate in authentic situated practice through virtual “being.” This project will (a) demonstrate to research partners the nature and potential of VR learning; (b) allow the project team to develop reusable core software components in preparation for the main games-for-learning projects; (c) allow team members to acquire development skills with a new set of software tools while we search for long term research partners; and (d) provide a compelling exemplar of VR learning for CoTF. The system will help students to acquire deep understanding of the nature and behaviour of projectile motion in a variety of complex settings.
