The Learning Sciences Lab of the National Institute of Education has a number of faculty and research positions available in the field of New Media in Education. We have a number of research and teaching positions for the Learning Sciences and Technologies (LST) academic Group as well as full-time research professor positions for the Learning Sciences Lab. We are looking for young and promising faculty members working in the field of New Media in Education with strong theoretical foundations in new media and/or with strong related design skills. We seek candidates with strength in one or more of these research areas: student learning with the use of computer and video games; online communities for learning; development of students’ new media literacies and use of multimodal representations; critical expression through art, aesthetics, and rhetoric in new media.
Candidates with an orientation toward socio-cultural research, hermeneutics, and discourse-based forms of analysis are preferred. Candidates must be willing to work in K-12 research settings.

The LSL champions innovations to transform pedagogy that is enabled by ICT and new media in schools. Candidates may negotiate on the scope of the research projects that tap on their expertise in their core research areas so long as their research supports LSL research goals and can create a beneficial impact on local school practices. They will work with leading researchers in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, with close links to the schools.

Candidates should have current or prior experience in new media design and development, use of new media for supporting student learning, design and development of learning interactions and instructional materials, the ability to conduct and disseminate research and to write grants to support scholarly activities, and effective interpersonal communication skills. They will be expected to participate in research, publication, and other scholarly activities.
