The National Institute of Education has a number of faculty
positions available in the field of the Learning Sciences. We have a
number of research and teaching positions for the Learning Sciences
and Technologies (LST) Academic Group and for LSL. We are looking
for young and promising faculty members working in the field of the
Learning Sciences with strong theoretical foundations or with strong
design skills. We seek candidates with strength in one of these
areas: researching learning with interactive digital media such as
computer and video games; technology-enabled mathematics or science
learning; and knowledge building. One or two faculty positions are
reserved for candidates with an orientation toward socio-cultural
and discourse analyses. The candidate should be familiar with
methodologies such as design research and needs to possess a
willingness to work in K-12 settings for research. Moreover, the
candidate must also be willing to be involved with teacher education
at the Institute.
The LSL will serve as the champion of transformation of pedagogy enabled by ICT in the schools. Candidates may negotiate on the scope of the research projects tapping on their expertise in their own core research areas as long as their research supports LSL research goals and can create impact on local school practices. They will work with leading learning sciences researchers in the Asia-Pacific region with close links to the schools.
Candidates should preferably have at least two years of K-12 teaching
experience (for the teaching positions); current or prior experience
in technology and learning, and in the design and development of
learning and/or instructional materials; ability to conduct and
disseminate research; ability to write grants to support scholarly
activities; and effective interpersonal communication skills;
participate in research, publication, and other scholarly
activities; and coordinate large cohorts of students. |
